Rosemarie Roman, opened 'Basilico's Pasta e Vino' at its original location in Huntington Beach, CA in 1999, bringing her unique style of Italian home cooking from the east coast to California. Her comfort food is made from the finest and freshest ingredients, and made with great care and love.
It became an instant local favorite and 'Rose' as most call her, became a friend to all,
and like a second Mother and Grandmother to many. Her customers and community meant everything to her.
Several years ago, Rose fell very seriously ill, not once, but twice, and against all odds, with her fighting spirit, she overcame. However, because she could no longer
be present operating her restaurant, and the shopping center where the business was located, and the immediate area surrounding it were in decline, her son Tony decided it was time for a fresh start for her beloved Basilico's.
An entrepreneur, Tony comes from other business industries, but he took the time
to design and build a new restaurant as a tribute to his Mother; to honor her and her
hard work and dedication to the community and her customers..
He gifted his mother the new restaurant on November 12, 2017, opening it at its current location. He thought after installing management and systems, he would then just walk away.
But because of what the restaurant meant to his mother's legacy,
the love he also soon felt for the community, and the special connections and relationships he forged with his customers, many becoming close friends, and especially his staff who became like family to him, Basilico's would become a permanent part of his life.
Then came March, 2020. 'Basilico's Pasta e Vino', a small Italian restaurant was minding its own business, when the enemies of freedom attacked. Tony and the 'Goodfellas of Basilico's' responded and the rest is history. Basilico's was no longer just a restaurant, but instead became a 'Fortress for Freedom'. A place where Patriots gather and connect, like a '1776 Tavern'.
'Basilico's Pasta e Vino' is now a 'Constitutional Battleground' !
Tony's mother Rosemarie enjoyed the new Basilico's and was very proud of him for his unwavering stand against lockdown tyranny and all woke enemies who have attacked since.
You often saw Rosemarie at the corner round table, when Tony would bring her in for their Mother and Son Italian Sunday dinners.
Sadly his mother Rosemarie passed away on March 23, 2023. Tony suffered the greatest loss of his life, still finding it difficult to accept. But he vows to continue honoring his mother by how he defends and operates 'Basilico's Pasta e Vino', a little restaurant with a big heart, and a restaurant he still calls his mother's!
